Control Slugs with Sand

Use coarse sand to control slugs in the garden.  Just sprinkle it around the plants that need protection.  It won't change the pH of the soil like ashes, and there is no cleanup, unlike the beer traps.  Sandpaper works too, use the waterproof kind.
